akamai has hijacked my computer...any suggestions how to get rid of it?

Suddenly every time I try to do anything, something akamai opens up a big, blank explorer window in my face. Also, various and sundry words and phrases appear underlined in color with rollover crap. And more ads than usual are popping up.

I think I've seen free s/w to get rid of this crap posted in DU on occasion. I'm open to any and all suggestions!

Also, what browser do you use ? You can block popups pretty easily.

7. explorer. the akamai takeover is gone! the underlined word ads and extra ads are still here

I know I've seen adblocker s/w posted here somewhere too...

thank you so much. I already have some kind of popup blocker that came with my internet connection.

Wow -- all the ads are gone! This is great. No more gawd-awful giant toenail fungus pix taking up half my screen!
