I think I am starting to like you.
Didn't watch TV tonight, politics at least, just been watching History2 and Sci Channel because I can't stand to watch anything else about Christie or Hillary.
Turned on Rachel to find that I should have been watching CSpan.
No debt ceiling till March '15. No strings attached, no pipeline, ACA, abortions, nothing. Boehner managed to get himself 28 votes and with 199 Dem votes, he got the bill passed (with beloved Nancy Pelosi's help). They showed him walking down the hall after the victory and he was so damned happy I think he could have floated home. Wish I'd have watched. Zippity doo da indeed.
The bad storm coming is the reason they're giving for the vote - no time to fight and they don't want to ruin the economics of the whole world.
I knew at the SOTU speech that Boehner ain't the devil (and a alot of you agreed). He works with some devils, but he's okay. Too bad the Reps are too narrow-minded to run him for President. He'd give our guy/gal a run for their money...
Republican or not, I LIKE HIM. So somebody alert me, I don't give a damn..

(13 posts)Unfortunately Boehner is an alcoholic that seems to blow which ever way the wind blows. And his ego is about to explode, it takes suntan lounges to keep him alive.
I guess my gripe is, he is a republican.

(10,044 posts)Between Betty White (too old) and Mylie Cyrus (too strange and too young) there must be thousands of women I don't think would be a good president and I don't hate any of them...
My feelings about Hillary Clinton are always evolving. Am now starting to feel a bit sorry for her. So much pressure to come, and she's had so much already.
Too much laughing and smiling are covers for sadness and fear of failure in the race (again). So many people encouraging her. She's made promises to many for positions in the new administration, and other supporters are there simply out of love for her.
She could have done better in her life without Bill, but love is where you find it.
She doesn't need my hate and doesn't have it. Rough times ahead because of baggage, hers and his. If she doesn't run, she'd make an excellent Pearl Mesta in DC where her influence would affect every politician...
Boehner, on the other hand, may be a jerk, but he's already the best candidate this year for the Kennedy "Profiles in Courage" award for putting country ahead of party.
The other thing he did was take Christie off the news for a day and me off the History 2 Channel and back to politics.
