South Carolinas Republican governor, Nikki Haley, has announced that she will sign i to law a bill which will allow gun owners to bring loaded firearms into businesses that serve alcohol.
The bill, which was passed by the South Carolina state senate last month, will allow anyone with a concealed weapon permit to bring a gun into a bar or restaurant, on the condition that they do not drink alcohol. It remains to be seen how this rule will be enforced.
Any business that does not wish to have gun-toting patrons getting liquored up on its premises will be allowed to put up signs barring entry to those carrying a firearm.

I find assault weapons particularly handy in heavy alcohol situations.

(1,569 posts)Carrying a gun in a restaurant/bar is legal in MOST states. Some people like to act like its going to lead to mass shootings in restaurants/bars all the time. It doesn't happen.

(75,480 posts)before they built the pipeline, everyone carried loaded guns around with them, for protection from the bears, they said. But no one was allowed to carry said guns into the bars with them. In the entrances, where people hung their coats and parkas there was a place to put firearms. Even the very gun friendly Alaskans thought it was a bad idea.

(3,547 posts)IIRC south carolina banned weapons in any establishment that sold alcohol for on-site consumption- from a dive bar to an applebees.
IF they don't consume alcohol I don't see the big idea- plus many states have laws like this on the books and there hasn't been many issues.
