Maybe she can pass the Marines pull-up test!

America's Best Cross-Country Skier Has An Insane Workout Routine, Including Pull-Ups With 45-Pound Weights

Her training is primarily focused on her core. She does a lot of work while standing on an exercise ball, and does pull-ups with a 45-pound weight chained to her waist.

Here are some GIFs. She is badass:

1. The Marines have nothing against 45-pound weights.

However they will not count the pullup if you kick or swing. It's in the rules.

And she didn't really get that "chin up".

I would have been more impressed with CORRECT chin ups without the weight.

If she dials back her badass meter from 11 to let's say 5 and exchanges the 45 pounder to a 15. My guess is her form would be good and proper, and she'd nail not only the minimum three, but the perfect 12 (scores 100 in the fitness test).

8. I just tried an experiment. Pardon me if I'm out of breath.

I can normally do between 20 and 23 overhand pull-ups. I never tried it with weight... Until now.

I tried it with a 45 pound dumbbell in a backpack and could only pull off 2. The last one was ugly.

I'm not a big guy by any stretch.

I'd wager money, without the weight, she could do the max in the test.

9. Then she should probably do it without the weight.

Because it was a "fail" with weights. Not a single correct chin up.

A single or double rep "to your absolute limit" exercise builds explosive strength. I'm thinking of the explosive power needed at the start of her races.

2. And note, she is doing a proper pull-up: Knuckles facing her.

Although, technically, the leg wriggling isn't allowed. Impressive, nonetheless.

11. Well, since you brought up the Marines the answer is "NO".

She was kicking and swinging, so she would not have passed the Marine test.

Having said that, she is an amazing and impressive physical specimen. Maybe you just should have left it at that, and not invoked the USMC.

16. I wonder if there is a Marine alive that could keep up with her on an Olympic cross-country course.
