I have never done an opiate. But like Seymour Hoffman had a ton of cash. Why do street heroin when you could find a doctor to write you a subscription for pharmaceuticals? Can you still inject oxycotin somehow for a big rush? (ha, joke in there about Rush!)
I ask from a position of ignorance.

(6,057 posts)Safer from arrest? Yes. Example: Rush Limbaugh.
Safer from overdose? Not so much. Example: Michael Jackson.

(1,370 posts)A movie star might be able to offer a doctor a lot of money....but most doctors already have a lot of money....and they don't want to lose their license/do jail time.
Also, some of the opiate pills have been modified with a binder, that prevents them from being crushed into a powder, and snorted.
So, there's a shortage of illegal pills.

(7,767 posts)they changed the make up of oxy's so people can not inject them any more...the change also made them not as effective IMO.

The pleasure effect is so strong in some people that nothing else can match it. Nothing.
I had a couple of casual friends earlier in my life that ended up dead from it. They were from affluent families and sure they had access to "safer" prescription drugs, bright futures and rehab programs, but if they had access to H it was a no-brainer for them.
I'm very glad I never experienced it.
