But Obama signaled continued confidence in Clapper in the face of calls for the director to resign from members of Congress who warn of the dangerous precedent set by allowing an intelligence chief to lie to legislative bodies tasked with overseeing the powerful spy agencies.
Clapper has apologized to the Senate intelligence committee for testifying in March 2013 that the US government does not wittingly collect data on millions of Americans.
when Snowden proved he was lying to Congress, he defended his testimony thusly:
first , he said he gave the least untruthful answer he could in an unclassified setting.
Later he changed his story to say that he had forgotten about an authority claimed by the government under the Patriot Act to collect the records of every phone call sent and received in the US.
Hooray for Senator Ron Wyden who challenging the dishonest answers.

Wall Street was so very talented and qualified they crashed the world economy.
But the administration still had to consult with the very people who were responsible, to fix the mess they intentionally caused.
It is all a dog and pony show.
The US government does not govern for the people.
They sold us out.
The corporations own us.
How many corporations are involved with the Military Industrial Complex ???
57% of the US budget goes to the military and war profiteers.

Confederacy: the southern states that seceded from the United States in 1861

The song originated in the blackface minstrel shows of the 1850s and quickly grew famous across the United States. Its lyrics, written in a comic, exaggerated version of African American Vernacular English, tell the story of a freed black slave pining for the plantation of his birth. During the American Civil War, "Dixie" was adopted as a de facto anthem of the Confederacy. New versions appeared at this time that more explicitly tied the song to the events of the Civil War. Since the advent of the North American Civil Rights Movement, many have identified the lyrics of the song with the iconography and ideology of the Old South. Today, "Dixie" is sometimes considered offensive, and its critics link the act of singing it to sympathy for the concept of slavery in the American South. Its supporters, on the other hand, view it as a legitimate aspect of Southern culture and heritage and the campaigns against it as political correctness. The song was a favorite of President Abraham Lincoln: he had it played at some of his political rallies and at the announcement of General Robert E. Lee's surrender.

(16,113 posts)Yes, i do see an agenda. When anything critical of the president shows up, there's someone there to post a "you're just out to get the president" type response. Sometimes it successfully hijacks the discussion to change the subject from an actual debate on president's statement to what the OP's "agenda" is. Other times, it's not so effective.
