http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/01/29/1273402/-Here-s-what-Obama-said-that-made-Republicans-sit-on-their-handsThat it's a good thing that after 12 long years the war in Afghanistan is finally coming to an end
That Congress shouldn't shut down government or threaten the full faith and credit of the United States
That Congress should pass legislation to put more Americans to work in the tech manufacturing sector
That he'll protect natural lands with his executive power
That Congress should repeal tax breaks for Big Oil
That Congress should restore unemployment insurance that it let expire at the end of the year
That women deserve equal pay for equal work
That nobody who works full time should have to raise a family in poverty, so Congress should raise the minimum wage to $10.10
That Congress shouldn't have another 40+ votes to repeal Obamacare
That votes, not money, should drive democracy
That he'll work to prevent more tragedies like Sandy Hook
...Republicans couldn't bring themselves to applaud. And if you can't understand why in the world they'd be against all that stuff, then you definitely should be voting Democratic in November.

(3,795 posts)Only truly vile creatures would respond negatively to some of the things Obama said during the SOTU.
These Republicans are OPENLY telling us they are vile and disgusting, and they still get votes from people somehow.

You got that right, but it's not only republicans. I thought I was in Freeperland last night.

(12,448 posts)I thought Obama was at his best last night. He had a lot of energy and struck a balance between challenging the Republican House and reaching out to the opposition. It's not his fault that they responded as usual: "Nononononononono Waaaaaaaahh"

(45,851 posts)And it's still going on here today. Seems like no matter what the president does or says, it's going to piss off a small group of posters here who just can't stop bashing the president!

(2,674 posts)I am sooo fed up with all the bad-mouthing and vicious talk. The picture is an example of how bad it is. There are times when you should be gracious and go with the flow. Last night was an example. All of them should have been standing and applauding. Whoever is president, he or she should be treated with respect. No shouting "you lie". No trying to ban his message to school children in your district. No calling him a dictator. Never ever, ever use the words Nazi or Holocaust when comparing anything that is happening in the US today. All of this applies to both Republicans and Democrats.
Lets try and be civil. I am fed up with name calling and idle, empty threats. I am also sick of Rush Limbaugh and think he is a major cause of the problem.

(44 posts)We here in Ohio are going to help things out by getting Boehner repealed from the House. The entire state is up in arms about he and Kasich's lack of doing anything except spewing hate. Kasich thinks that because he is now expanding medicare and opening up Ohio's ACA exchange that this will garner him votes from us but we have a wonderful surprise waiting for all of them come November. We can only wait so long until we get what we need and that is for them to go away and never come back.

(81,527 posts)Glad you're here! Quite an uproar stirred here last night, wasn't it? YOIKS!
I SO hope you're correct about your state. I'd love to see boner and kasich and the rest of 'em given the ol' heave-ho in the next election. I'd love to see the House of Reps turn blue again and get rid of more of those red-staters, while keeping the Senate true-blue, too. DAMN - we need to give this President a Congress who'll work with him on these ideas of his that have merit and strong support, instead of trying to pretend he doesn't exist, or getting all incensed because there's actually a black guy in the Oval Office and he isn't the janitor (which is the crux of it, in my opinion).
