A really sad day for folk music. He was singing and inspiring us all the way to the end:

I once read a mother's prayer for a newborn son, that when he died, his community would be glad he had lived.

Pete Seeger's music has spread to nooks and crannies of this earth we've never even heard of, but especially it lives here, in the country he lived in and among the people whose struggles he gave brilliant voice to.

We are so glad he lived.

I just saw this report and I'm dreading calling my mother with this news once the hour becomes decent. My love for folk music and their message came straight from my parents.

Thank you Pete Seger for all you have done: for minions with hammers, bells and songs all over this land.
