Speaker Boehner and Godwin's Law

If one identifies oneself with the Nazi's in the course of a discussion, does this act render one's own further statements irrelevant by some corollary of Godwin's Law? If so, Boehner self-godwins his own political analysis at 3:21 in the video:

Speaker Boehner: "...some of them I have to be the Gestapo...."

The problem with "Godwin's Law" isn't that internet posters invoke Hitler or Nazis, it's that gives anyone who disagrees with the original poster the opportunity to end real discussion with some asinine pseudo-rule that makes absolutely no sense.

Boehner's analogy was accurate. If he doesn't act like the Gestapo, his fascist members will try to dump him. Why on earth would you call him out for pointing out the truth?

that I find it darkly humorous that one side must leap to such extremity simply to describe itself accurately.

The question in the OP is intended to be rhetorical.

As far as "Godwin's Law" itself is concerned, it is not truly to be taken seriously - it just seems to be some sort of proto-meme that has shifted its meaning away from a probability argument to something else. My post was merely an oblique observation that failed to intersect with anything which you find humorous.

P.S. How frequently does one actually find real discussion on the internet? I find that extensive and thoughtful discussions are quite rare.
