I'm suspicious of their business model.
I haven't heard Limbaugh on the radio in ages. But we all know about his troubles.
What about the rest of the right-wing propagandists that pollute the airwaves?
I'm interested in politics. So when I'm riding in my car, usually at night, I tend to seek out politically-oriented stations.
I tend to end up listening to people like Mark Levin, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, and assorted twerps like a guy named Ben Ferguson. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. And there are no liberal alternatives around here.
Something I've noticed is that these shows don't have any commercials.
Yes, they have "breaks." But most of those breaks aren't filled with commercials.
Those breaks are mostly filled with "public service announcements."
They tell you that you should quit smoking. And you should sign up with Selective Service.
And yes you should quit smoking, and sign up with Selective Service.
But radio stations don't get paid for running public service announcements.
How do radio stations make a profit that way?
I'm in the Heart Of Dixie, and these right-wing radio hosts spew their venom, without any visible means of support.
PSA's don't pay the bills.
It seems kind of fishy to me. I'd like Congress to look into it.
