TIME Magazine Does It Again: Different covers for the US as opposed to other countries

Their US cover for their March 26 edition:

Their cover for most of the world:

Parts of other countries will see either Joseph Kony or Indian politician Narendra Modi on on the cover of TIME.

Why don't they want us to see anything about locavores? Hmmmmmmm....

Not to mention that the American cover seems to imply that women have caught up to men when it comes to pay - which, sadly, is false.

The US cover is relevant to the US. That issue is being marketed here to the US. The cover itself tells me that more women than men are becoming the breadwinners at home. It says nothing about wages.

The latter cover is obviously marketed to other countries...not ours. I would be interested to see other stories inside.

Also, they should sell both versions here in the US an abroad.

of the subject of the article.

Even if this trend is true, women are still lagging behind when it comes to pay.

I'm not disagreeing about women's pay at all. I disagree with your interpretation.

This is not some new conspiracy. This is marketing what sells in each market. Let's not try to turn it into something sinister. It's all about money, and what sells in which market, just like magazine publish has ALWAYS been.

The many magazines have different covers and content in different regions. I have read Time Magazine in Asia quite a number of times (I only do that when I can borrow them from co-workers because they are so expensive). Even the one that had then President-Elect Barack Obama after the election I had to have my mom buy one for me in the United States when I heard about it.

As someone else mentioned and I will back up from personal experience, there is no conspiracy.

Different ad content, but they do that for regional editions within the US, too. This is a non-story.
