(27,315 posts)Does anybody think that these Republican congresspeople and senators will oppose their daughters having an abortion? May be a couple of them, but for the most part, they do not.
Most of the restrictions affect poor people predominantly. If you have a good healthcare coverage, you probably will know you are pregnant before 20 weeks. You will probably have access to an hospital to get an abortion if needed and a car to drive there if it is not close to your residence. You will not need federal money. You will be able to drive to a different state with more liberal laws. You will be able to fly abroad.
In fact, most European countries have restrictions for on demand abortions except for medical reasons, but they also have a decent medical network and laws that help mothers and pregnant women, all things the GOP strenuously objects to.
So, who is really touched. Low income people, who are disproportionately minorities. It feeds the idea the GOP has that these women are irresponsible and do not have morale.

(21,475 posts)They are the exact opposite of Pro-Life.. they never saw a gun they didn't like or a war they didn't want to get involved in. They support the death penalty and tobacco sales. How in the HELL could any rational human being say they were "Pro-Life"?

(45,319 posts)The annual march marks the anniversary of the Supreme Courts Roe v. Wade decision, and also coincides with the Republican National Committees winter meeting in D.C.
Despite the labels of progressive and liberal the pope have been given by some, his tweet reflects his past position on abortion, and is in line with the teachings of the Catholic church. Last year, the pope criticized those who saw abortion as progressive and, earlier this month, Francis compared abortion to the discarding of dispensible objects.
Unfortunately, what is thrown away is not only food and dispensible objects, but often human beings themselves, who are discarded as unnecessary, Francis said during his annual papal state of the world speech. For example, it is frightful even to think there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day.

Tweet from Francis Superstar:
"I join the March for Life in Washington with my prayers. May God help us respect all life, especially the most vulnerable"
DU's Francis Booster Society should be very proud that their guy speaks for them so very clearly.

(9,126 posts)It needs to be seen by every person who is cheering his PR campaign. Especially the women. You cannot turn a blind eye to what this man is proposing as the leader of one of the world's major religions. You cannot pick and choose and support this institution monetarily. He is promoting the enslavement of women, period. He doesn't give a damn about you. Get it?

(28 posts)Bombing and murdering doctors and nurses at abortion clinics to fight for the unborn, basically choosing (to borrow someone else's words) a clump of cells over a living breathing human being that is already here, that is about as backward as you can get. I apologize if "clump of cells" is politically and intellectually incorrect but these people annoy me.
