I spent the last three hours or more viewing things like Manufacturing Consent and Iran is not the problem.
I've had it bookmarked for at least the last year. There is a ton of stuff that is pertinent information.
Much of it is from traditional media sources such as PBS, CBC, or British series. There's a pretty good percentage of the nut job conspiracy nuts but I think most DU'rs could filter that out.
For those of us insomniacs and those who have no life, check it out. You could spend a day just going through what is available.

(111,291 posts)I watched "The Ballad of Cable Hogue" a couple of nights ago when I couldn't sleep. It was as funny as I remembered.

(7,113 posts)I recently recommended it to all my family members.
Unfortunately, I found it when Googling reviews of a 6-hour documentary I just bought -- "The Story of Ireland" -- so of course I had rather mixed feelings upon learning I could watch it online for free!

(13,776 posts)I love documentaries!
There are a bunch of great Discovery and Frontline documentaries that you can stream from Netflix, but I've almost run through all the ones I want to watch, so I'm excited about this website--thanks!

(13,776 posts)It's two documentaries in one, I think--or anyway the second episode started immediately after the first without my having to do anything.
The first episode is about a bus driver from London who goes to Manila to learn to drive a bus there; the second one is about a binman from London who goes to Jakarta to do that job there. Those sound like kind of a couple of wacky romps, but they are actually a close-up view of what life is like for people living day-to-day on the edge of poverty. I can't recommend them enough:

I really hope more episodes from this series are posted soon... honestly, I am not the same person I was before I saw them. The second one, especially, is the answer to anyone who ever might ask OWS supporters why the 99% movement needs to be global.
