You Can Now Carry A Gun Into City Buildings In Castle Rock, Colorado. As Long As It Can Be Seen

Castle Rock city council passed 4-3 an abolishment of city ordinance that bans open carry guns in city buildings and offices. I assume that you can transport your weapon openly on your way to a city office which means you can probably open carry your gun on the street. If a city office includes the police department you can probably carry you gun into that office as well.

Eventually gun owners will want to open carry anywhere they want including businesses, schools, churches, etc. Might be a good idea to stay out of that city.

it would be a felony (it's a brand new law, forced on us by the courts, but I believe I read that it would be a felony to bring it into a government building, court, etc.). There are a SLEW of places prohibited by law, and anywhere else can post an official sign prohibiting guns (though I believe that would only be a misdemeanor offense, unfortunately, if it were disobeyed):

Concealed carry is prohibited on public transportation, at a bar or restaurant that gets more than half its revenue from the sale of alcohol, at a public gathering or special event that requires a permit (e.g. a street fair or festival), at a place where alcohol is sold for special events, and on private property where the owner has chosen not to allow it (and, unless the property is a private residence, has posted an appropriate sign). Concealed carry is also not allowed at any school, college or university, preschool or daycare facility, government building, courthouse, prison, jail, detention facility, hospital, playground, park, Cook County Forest Preserve area, stadium or arena for college or professional sports, amusement park, riverboat casino, off-track betting facility, library, zoo, museum, airport, nuclear facility, or place where firearms are prohibited under federal law.

That's a nice triangulation going on in the Denver suburbs, now: Castle Rock, Columbine High School, and that theater in Aurora......
