Notorious Hacker Guccifer Reportedly Arrested in Romania

The man who brought us the George W. Bush paintings has reportedly been arrested: On Wednesday night, Romanian authorities arrested Marcel Lazăr Lehel, the 40-year-old man accused of being the hacker Guccifer, at his home in Arad. Guccifer has hacked into the email accounts of Colin Powell, family members and friends of at least three U.S. presidents, plus numerous other celebrities and officials.

According to Softpedia and various Romanian news sources, Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) raided Lazăr Lehel's home last night. He was reportedly arrested shortly after.

This isn't the first time Lazăr Lehel has been arrested for hacking: In February 2012, he was convicted of dozens of hacking-related charges received a three year suspended sentence. Those charges stemmed from Lazăr Lehel's attacks on dozens of Romanian officials between October 2010 and July 2011.

British barman tries to make citizen's arrest of Tony Blair for 'war crimes in Iraq'

Twiggy Garcia, 24, told the politician, 'Mr. Blair, this is a citizen's arrest for a crime against peace, namely your decision to launch an unprovoked war against Iraq.'

Tony Blair faced a citizen's arrest for "war crimes in Iraq" as he ate at a fancy restaurant.

The former British prime minister was dining with family and friends at London's upmarket Tramshed when an angry barman tried to hold him to account for the 2003 conflict, it has emerged.

Twiggy Garcia, 24, reportedly walked over and put his hand on the politician's shoulder. ....

He then tried to force Blair, 60, to a police station to answer questions over his "illegal war."

Blair's son called security and Garcia fled.

Despite losing his job, however, he said he had no regrets.

"I feel great, it's something I have wanted to do for a few years," he told The Sun.

"I believe Blair is responsible for the mass murder of Iraqi civilians after taking our country into an illegal war," he added.

A spokesman for Blair said the former Labour party leader had offered to discuss the issue but "the individual walked off" before they could talk.

Three cheers for Mr. Twiggy Garcia! Civilization owes you its deepest thanks.

Mr. Blair and his co-conspirators Bush and Cheney owe millions of innocent dead something else.

4. He probably pissed off the Romanian Intelligence Service

Romanian authorities allege that a man they refer to only as LML “accessed, repeatedly and without authorization, by bypassing security measures, email accounts belonging to public figures from Romania, with the purpose of gaining possession of confidential information found in their electronic mailboxes.” Radio Romania first identified the suspect as Lehel.

A Romanian prosecutor told Reuters that the suspect is believed to be hacker Guccifer.

Guccifer accused Romanian politician Corina Cretu of having an affair with former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, accessing a collection of his “very personal” emails in early 2013. The hacker also infiltrated the email of George Maior, chief of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI).

.....

In the past, Guccifer’s targets have purportedly included an array of officials, including members of the Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama US presidential administrations, as well as Secret Service agents, diplomats, entertainers, and other assorted public figures. Using one former Clintonite’s account, Guccifer obtained and distributed memos to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton regarding the 2012 attack of American diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya.
