Louder Than Words: Hypocritical Republicans Hate Our Military Men and Women

Snip

But somehow the rhetoric is always the same from the right: the Democrats hate our veterans.

Aw, yes, the Democrats. It’s always the Democrats. The liberal hippies who hate war must hate our veterans, like the Republicans, who voted to cut from food stamps last year which would have kicked hundreds of thousands of veterans right off the program, rendering them hungry with no support for food. Thanks for feeding them.

Like the Republicans, who filibustered the Veterans Jobs Bill in 2012, a bill that would have created jobs for up to 20,000 veterans, was blocked on a procedural point, arguing that the bill was unpaid for (aw yes, I forgot, they love to offset the costs) even though it was paid for. Thanks for giving them the jobs you’ve been promising all of us.

Like the Republicans, when they refused to reinstate the unemployment insurance and kicked off thousands upon thousands of veterans, they convinced all the hard working Americans it was the right thing to do. The Republicans called those on unemployment insurance lazy, and leeching of our system.

Or how about when they, in 2012, blocked another veterans bill (a bill that had its costs offset) that would have put veterans as first priority in hiring for police and fire department positions. Explain that, Republicans.

Or how about when they blocked bills that would have provided funding for our veterans suffering from PTSD, some still suffering from Vietnam era 40+ years ago. They seem too keen on curving mental illness, but when the time comes, they are quick to give them the finger and vote NAY.

I'm afraid both sides fall short of meeting that bar.

Here America, here is a handy list of all the programs that were designed to help our men and women in uniform that were blocked by our patriotic, “veteran-sporting” Republican friends:

H.R. 466 – Wounded Veteran Job Security Act became H. R. 2875, an act that provides the job security necessary for veterans who were receiving proper medical treatment for injuries they had sustained while fighting for us.

H.R. 1168 — Veterans Retraining Act

H.R. 1171 – Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Reauthorization, an act which would have reauthorize programs in support of homeless veterans, to assist them with job training.

H.R. 1172 — Requiring List on VA Website of Organizations Providing Scholarships for Veterans

H.R. 1293 — Disabled Veterans Home Improvement and Structural Alteration Grant Increase Act of 2009

H.R. 1803 — Veterans Business Center Act

H.R. 2352 – Job Creation Through Entrepreneurship Act, an act would create a Veterans Business Center Program and a Military Entrepreneurs Program

These programs that they vetoed, they indeed speak volumes. The Republican rhetoric is meaningless since their actions speak louder than words.

of the US Corporatemedia's support.

Our Veterans aren't rich enough for the teabaggers in the US House of Representatives, she.

"Why are American taxpayers forced to subsidize the billionaire Koch brothers’ massive campaign contributions to Republican Party politicians, the Tea Party movement, and policies that ensure greater subsidies to the Kochs, while cutting more public services to the taxpayers who fund the Kochs’ business and political activities?"

Limiting yourself to true attacks will be more effective than mixing obvious untruths with the truth.

The claim that Republicans hate military men and women is about as obvious an untruth as one could hope to avoid.

That's not something that's owned by the Right, nor by any political party.

They can't so easily dismiss us and our service and our sacrifice.
