Just reported on MSNBC - Iranian sanctions are now starting to be lifted

Those sanctions have caused tremendous economic damage to that country, and Iran's cooperation to date with official negotiators attempting to resolve the situation peacefully has resulted in this great news. It is a thumb in the eye to those right-wingers who have been stoking the fires for involving us in yet another war, and it appears there is hope further progress can be made.

I do give much credit to President Obama for this result. He publicly spoke out to those who advocated for war to stand up and speak out. Come out of the closet, put your hand up and your name out there in the public domain. They demurred.

He diligently worked for a peaceful resolution, and for that I am grateful.

And this is happening. That link I provided was a marching order to businesses to get moving.

I've seen countries go on the list and many a foreign national or business/vessel go on the OFAC list. This is fun to see human beings come off.

I think it is a very big deal. Of course, it might have been mentioned on other broadcasts that I missed, but still...amazingly, an extremely low profile story.

I have heard no response from the neoconservatives. Perhaps they are ready to give up on this issue, or is that too much to hope for....

peace as well, to treat our fellow human beings and all of creation with love and respect in our daily lives.

Or the ones who profit off war will inflame another war to satisfy our needs to have it all. I see some things we don't want to have happen to us, as a form of privilege that helped to create support for oppressing others we don't know.

Expectations in the material realm have to be restrained, if we really believe that all human and other life is worthy. That will mean making compromises that we may not want or see as frightening or unjust to us, which those who pushed for war saw as the only solution to keep the status quo going.

Not just for the wealthy, but for the vast majority of people who have felt entitled to more resources than could be gotten through fair trade and social justice. A sub-set of the population really believes we should have the best living standard in the world, but neglect what it costs.

A lot of people have worn blinders for a long time to what evil meeting the demands of a consumer culture like ours has created. I for one, don't hold myself completely blameless for what the big wigs did to keep selling us stuff. Only with inner peace and recognizing the concept of Namaste do we understand that all that looks good is not good at all.

Off my soap box for a whlle.... before I fall off to one side and show my hippie underwear. (Wait, we didn't wear any!)

I am from that generation of women who burned their bra and I am proud of it!

But I attribute much of what you describe for those who wear binders a result of being denied the privilege of information many of us have. I am thinking for instance of many of my relatives who live in Tennessee, where the the most exposure they have as to what is going on is carried by Fox News. They are represented by politicians who protect the corporate and wealthy contingent's best interests while kicking their constituents to the curb. What can be done about that, I chronically wonder.

Stay on that soap box!

Literally. Iran was wise to go the diplomatic route.
President Obama sure gets credit where credit is due, but he hardly conjured magic to get it done.
