As the unions go, so goes the American worker. United We Thrive, Divided We Beg. Something to keep in mind as we watch unions disappear.

(4,441 posts)and I will remain a member of my union, in spite of everything Scott Walker did to public employees.
I served as secretary, executive board member, and president of my local; but the most rewarding work I did was during my 5 years as a steward, standing up to management and representing the workers.

(30,058 posts)Who was not in unions. Negotiations provided benefits for lower managers as well as the workers. I was a job steward for 30 years, I advised my co-workers if I saw they were going down a road of nl return as well as representing them in grievances where they were wronged. A working agreement put limits on union workers as well as an established path to do our daily work. I did nit like to see an employee getting picked on by rogue managers and would help gather needed information as proof to their managers of wrong doing.

(402 posts)We all know few conservatives will ever come around no matter how much you show them how government, unions, education and science improve our lives. I loath the fact i have to live with people that are incredibly gullible to capitol marketing even as they suffer through the pains of that gullibility and force those pains on the sane of us.
Conservatives need their own nation where they can take advantage of each other and force suffering on one another and we can impose fair trade on them so they are not allowed to profit through free trade off the backs of the happy tough love slaves that choose to live in that hell hole they want to create so badly.
We can also have a immigration policy that allows for new liberal people born there to move to our United states when they are of age but the ones that chose to live there we wont allow into our nation when they discover their stupidity.
Conservatives always talk a big game about not needing government, rules or fair law when they are protected so well by these things but when faced with the reality of their vision 95% would run as far as they could from such a place. I imagine it being so nasty with in a decade that Mexico will have a immigration problem from all the southerners fleeing their " religious " free market utopia.
(No offense to southern Democrats which i am one of and people that don't want to move to escape the new conservative nation they would so happen to live in, its just a fantasy that doesn't take those things into account.)

employers did these things out of the goodness of their hearts?
