I just filed my taxes online and got *this* msg from H&R Block....

Your Transmission Was Successful
Thanks for e-filing. We've submitted your federal return to the IRS.

When Will The IRS Open?
Unfortunately, the recent federal government shutdown also affected the IRS and its tax processing systems. The IRS won’t begin processing tax returns until January 31. Although this delay has affected the entire industry, H&R Block returns will be accepted by the IRS as soon as processing begins.

Wonder how the baggers will feel about shut down now. ha!

IRS: Shutdown will delay tax filing season
Here's another reason to be annoyed at the 16-day government shutdown: It could delay tax refunds for millions of early filers by one or two weeks, the Internal Revenue Service announced Tuesday.

The IRS won't start processing returns until at least Jan. 28 and possibly as late as Feb. 4, instead of the planned start date of January 21. Should the government shut down again in January over budget talks scheduled as part of the deal to reopen the federal government, refunds could be tied up even longer.

Taxpayers still must file a return by April 15, and companies must still send W-2 and other tax forms on schedule, usually by Jan. 31.

"While H&R Block is well prepared to adjust to the IRS announcement of a delay in the opening of the 2014 tax season, we are frustrated for our clients who are among the estimated 18 million taxpayers who typically file a return in January," the tax preparation company said in a statement.

but no delay in payments for those that owe. Want to bet those payments are expedited? I won't take that bet. Wonderful

It put the feds behind (it fell right at the quarterly filing deadline on top of everything else) and they'll be behind for the regular tax season this year. Blame it on the Teabaggers. The fools mess everything up they touch.

2012 returns had to wait until January 30th.
2011 returns had to wait until mid February for a lot of returns (but some could file on time)
2010 required taxpayers who itemize or claiming certain deductions to wait until mid feb.

It happens.

It happens. Plus most people don't have their taxes done in January. My taxes are 95% done, but I owe money, so I'm not in a big rush. I'll knock them out in the next week or two.

But I thought it was interesting that they tied it to the shutdown. This year, placing the blame squarely on the baggers. I wish more people did taxes in Jan.
