Fox refuses to comment after guest calls for Satanists to be gunned down

The Satanic Temple has issued a press release demanding that Fox Business News publicly apologize for the remarks made by one of its commentators.

On January 9, 2014, one of the participants in Fox Business New’s “Mensa Meeting,” Bernard McGuirk, said that members of the Satanic Temple who want to erect a monument in Oklahoma City should be executed.

“They should be able to put the statue up, and then they should be shot right next to it, and then we take it down,” McGuirk said.

Lawyers for the Satanic Temple say that “[s]uch incitement to violence is reckless and possibly criminal. Advocacy of the murder of American citizens based on their religious beliefs is intolerable and sickening. For [Fox Business] to disseminate such a position as part of a televised debate on a national network strikes at the heart of this country’s founding principles and potentially places the Temple’s members in imminent danger.”

...the Church of Satan standing up for morality over a national news network, I would have thought you were a complete lunatic.

Oh yes, Mr. Dylan, the times they are a'changin'.

I guess enough time has passed that the networks are okay with this kind of talk again.

Fox and McGuirk will get their asses sued off. Unfortunately, I'm not sure Fox's content would change much if it were owned by Satanists.

It's already partly owned by would-be jihadists.

Bear in mind that according to the Bible it wasn't Satan who drowned the world and that history books are written by the winners.

Besides, the idea of Satan didn't come along until they started editing the Bible to get rid of references to more than one god.

The ancient Hebrews, like all ancient peoples, weren't monotheistic. They originally had different gods for the Earth, or the creator god and another for the heavens. They eventually merged the two into one god, so then they had one left over and they made him their god's adversary. There are still parts of the Bible that speak of Satan as the lord of the Earth and other little things like that which are the vestiges of his former status as the creator god.

I think there are actually different kinds of Satanists out there. Some follow along with Anton LaVey's teachings, while others have their own beliefs. I personally think LaVey was a charlatan. I read the Satanic Bible and I wasn't impressed by his philosophy. It sounded like a lot of things RWers and Ayn Randians believe. Some Satanists' beliefs are probably quite a bit different and might even have a lot of admirable qualities; I'm just not sure. I do know one thing, though. None of them deserve to be gunned down.

LaVey was a carney til the day he died. But your right about the fact that Satan in early writings served as God's equal

But massive efforts have been made to OCCULT -- and keep OCCULTED -- the Many Gods of the Tradition (as specified in the Bible).
