Did Woody Allen molested a 7yr old...always wondered why Hollywood gave him a pass..

https://twitter.com/RonanFarrow

Missed the Woody Allen tribute - did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?

In perhaps the harshest jeer from Golden Globes bleachers, the man who grew up calling Woody Allen "dad" decided to bash the film auteur as he was being honored with a Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 71st annual awards show on Sunday evening.
We repeat, Allen's own would-be son, Ronan Farrow, started a smear campaign as the director's long and distinguished career was revered in front of the world during the live televised event

His stinging tweet quickly went viral, receiving more than 8,500 retweets and over 6,000 favorites so far.
He also shared a link a link to the Vanity Fair story, in which his sister Dylan spoke publicly for the first time about allegedly being molested by Allen in the attic of their country home when she was 7. Allen has always denied the allegations and did so again through a lawyer in the article.

1. Many have given Polanski a pass.

Woody denied the allegations and it hasn't gone as far as Polanski.
Still, I don't like either of them.

I don't know why they are given a pass, other than their fame, and the respect they have garnered from their peers.
I actively avoid both of their films.

I'm not sure that Woody Allens are quite so clear.

Which is why I mentioned that Woody denied the allegations. I have definitely not seen it go that far.

13. Has anyone seen an explanation as to why it wasn't prosecuted?

It was brought up in their nasty custody case and presented to the judge there, who found the evidence questionable and "inconclusive", but that's a far cry from a criminal investigation.

20. That was actually Mia Farrow's call

The Connecticut prosecutor made it clear that he thought there was a decent case (in spite of the fact that the family court judge found the accusations "inconclusive&quot . According to the prosecutor, Mia Farrow shot the whole thing down when she decided that a trial would be too hard on her seven year old daughter, and indicated to the prosecutors office that they would not cooperate with a conviction attempt. Nowadays a prosecutor might be willing to go it alone and compel their testimony anyway, but twenty years ago a parent bailing on an investigation pretty much ended that investigation.

As I understand it, the statute of limitations now prevents him from being charged today. CT law says that childhood molestation cases can be charged something like 20 years AFTER the child turns 18 (basically, until the victim is 38), or within 5 years of it being reported to police and prosecutors. Because there is no legal question that it was properly reported back during those divorce proceedings, that's when the clock started ticking. Even if Dylan Farrow wanted him charged today and wanted to cooperate, they can't legally do anything about it at this point.

However, those two are the most egregious I can think of.
I mean, Errol Flynn too was one of these guys if I am not mistaken.

Obviously, there's bad blood already between Allen and Mia Farrow.

Can someone post a cite to Dylan Farrow's claims, thanks in advance.

Jefferson was a slave holder who had several children with the woman who was his wife's half sister - and slave. Yet we revere the Declaration of Independence written largely by Jefferson.

I think the answer is to accept the films on their own worth, and judge the film makers as human beings on their behavior.

and he lost a lot of fans then. There was a lot of discussion that this was because people were disappointed that he'd left comedy, but it was the relationship with a minor that bothered people.

"The film opens with a montage of images of Manhattan accompanied by George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Isaac Davis (Woody Allen) is introduced as a man writing a book about his love for New York City. He is a twice-divorced, 42-year-old television comedy writer dealing with the women in his life who quits his unfulfilling job. He is dating Tracy (Mariel Hemingway), a 17-year-old girl attending the Dalton School. "
