(10,129 posts)Coronal Mass Ejections move quickly, but not the speed of light. They typically take 24-72 hours to reach earth.

but from what all the weather and news say, that aurora was the morning of the 9th. Sometimes they get here sooner than that. But if the sky is clear enough, I'll venture out to see anyway. We've been getting snowed on since th 7th and looks likely that this will last until next Tuesday.
Just pointing out that the flare wasn't today as I got the impression from the OP that another had occurred today.
