Fords global vice president in charge of marketing and sales now says the automobile company doesnt keep a close eye on their customers driving habits after recent remarks at a Las Vegas trade show raised concerns among car owners.
On Thursday, Fords Jim Farley told Business Insider that he didnt accurately portray the companys operations with regards to recording and logging user data with new smart car technology when he told a crowd at the CES electronics show in Vegas over the weekend, We know everyone who breaks the law, and we know when you're doing it

Now as reports based off his remarks have attracted unwanted attention for the major motor company, Farley is racing into reverse in order to make certain Ford customers know that they arent being spied on by any sort of sinister, under-the-hood surveillance system.

(9,462 posts)customers know if they've signed a consent form? Often, people don't know they've consented to things. I wonder where the "fine print" is that gives Ford this right and if it's clear?

(8,646 posts)When you buy a car they make you sign a lot of things and if you aren't careful, look out (my ex found that out the hard way...signed an 'extended warranty' worth thousands, ugh I was so mad)...if I ever buy a car from Ford I think I will write on the contract, "I do not now, or ever, give Ford consent to track me in my car." before I sign it. Just to make sure. But I'm the type where I often annoy people because I read the contracts I sign. The sad part is when I ask questions usually the person making me sign the contract doesn't even know the answers to 'what exactly does this mean?'. Frustrating.
