Christie once bragged that shutting down traffic was his "favorite thing about being Governor"

This article is from last February, Christie's words may have seemed selfish then but they were easy to brush aside as just being a joke. In light of the current scandal surrounding him however, the comments reported in this article take on a whole new meaning...

Christie: Best Part About Being Guv Is 'Going To New York City' (VIDEO)

PEMA LEVY – FEBRUARY 27, 2013, 2:42 PM EST
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) joked Wednesday that his favorite thing about being governor was "going to New York City" because he now gets to avoid all the traffic.

Asked by an eight-year-old girl at a town hall in Montville what his favorite thing about being governor was, Christie said he had a fun answer and a serious answer.

"When you're governor, they close the Lincoln Tunnel for you," Christie said. "And you get to drive right through. No traffic. It's the best. I love going to New York now. I used to hate it…. that's the most fun thing on the fun side about being governor."

Christie added that this might be why his wife wants him to win re-election.

...a couple of years ago - a 10 minute drive from the Garden State Parkway to the race track became more than an hour.

"Coincidentally" soon after he decided he wanted to close Monmouth Park (a state-owned track) because it was losing money!

That doomed NJ to traffic gridlock for decades to come. All so he can make a name for himself with the national GOP.

It would be easy to trap someone in a tunnel, then kill him in a variety of ways.

But are governors at such high risk? Well, maybe Christie is.

I remember Hillary saying to a reporter in one of her exit interviews that one of the things that she was looking forward to was not having to travel with over 100 people and having the streets emptied for her motorcade to pass by. She wanted to be normal, he wanted to be treated like a king.
