We saw the press conference today and Christie was just shocked...shocked I tell you, that his staff was capable of lying to him about their involvement in the GWB scandal. So why was he twisting Cuomo's arm last month in an effort to keep this story quiet? If you don't believe Christie is involved in this, I've got a bridge to....
Mr. Christie, a Republican, complained in a private phone call to Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, that Patrick Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was pressing too hard to get to the bottom of why the number of toll lanes onto the bridge from Fort Lee, N.J. was cut from three to one in early September, according to this person. The lane closures occurred without notice to local authorities, officials have said, and snarled traffic for a week in the small borough on the Hudson River bluffs.

(5,141 posts)I though "wait
the JOURNAL published this"??
I wonder if this has more to do with deliberately trying to taint Cuomo by association. I'm having a hard time thinking Murdoch's creature would bring this up unless it could hurt a Democrat in the bargain.

(12,647 posts)But the call didn't stop Foye from testifying to the NJ Legislature. I imagine Cuomo busted out laughing after Christie's desperate phone call.

They may enjoy right wing propeganda as entertainment but they know better than to believe it.

From what I've read on CNN.com it sounds like their pet talking heads either believe him because "this was a very different Chris Christie" or are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, because... well, I can't think of any valid reason that a journalist should just give somebody the benefit of the doubt because he looked sad. Thank goodness for Rachel et al--I can't wait for her show tonight.

which is when he should have fired the staffers involved (not allowed them to resign), put the nomination of his chief of staff on hold, and called for a federal investigation himself.

(1,245 posts)Not even he would try to pull THAT big of a lie off.
I believe he's claiming that he only just recently discovered that people on his staff were 'involved'.
And he's sad. That's what he's feeling right now. You know, inside. It's sadness.
No, REALLY!
He's having a LOT ... of sadness.

why didn't he ask anyone, "Why are lane closures going on that I didn't know about? Who authorized it? AND WHO ALLOCATED HOW MUCH MONEY?" He didn't ask those questions BECAUSE HE ALREADY HAD THE ANSWERS!
And of COURSE his staff was involved. Who else could have authorized, produced, and set out those cones -- a college fraternity? A local street gang? A film crew?

which is impeachable enough (ask Joe Paterno).
Nothing points to Governor Soprano as a conspirator or mastermind as of yet. But it's looking more and more like that's because he arranged it that way.

(379 posts)I am guessing that Chrstie does not call other governors about investigations. Shows he was concerned with outcome and someone being discovered that he was not happy with. THE COVER UP.
