If you thought the War on Drugs is waste, this is worse:

Santorum: I Will Ban Pornography

Rick Santorum said yesterday that if elected he will appoint an Attorney General who will vigorously enforce existing obscenity laws.
The former Pennsylvania senator argues that "current federal 'obscenity' laws prohibit distribution of hardcore [obscene] pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier." “The Obama administration has turned a blind eye to those who wish to preserve our culture from the scourge of pornography and has refused to enforce obscenity laws,” the statement read in part. “While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum administration.”

Santorum's website declares that porn causes brain damage: "A wealth of research is now available demonstrating that pornography causes profound brain changes in both children and adults, resulting in widespread negative consequences."

Because he sure can't get sexual images of man on dog stuff out of his mind. He's into inter-species porn which he thinks is OK because watching naked women's stuff is very disturbing to him. I'm sure he does it with his eyes closed tightly like it should be done.

Whenever people in power say they are going on a crusade against pornography, I start wondering even more what they are really up to in their spare time.

Brain Damage? That's a lot of research from people who don't like science.

I cannot remember that late, great liberal Democrat Tip O'Neill ever going on an anti-porn crusade.

Do you feel like you're living in a bad, dystopian B movie?

America desperately needs a good Constitutional shower to wash the fascists out.

Sadly, there are still small cliques of authoritarian-minded so-called "progressives" who are all too willing to quote these bogus studies (funded by progressive pro-womyn outfits like the American Family Assoc., no less) in the pursuit of their anti-porn, pro-censorship agenda.

Give this thread some time, you'll see a few "but but but but but butbutbutbut pornn harmmmmsss!!! folks show up, now with newfound "respect" for Sticky Ricky's "principles" no doubt.

One of the weirdest and most disturbing political alliances I ever saw was that between the talibangelicals and the MacKinnon/Dworkin crowd when the latter were trying to pass their insane porn ordinance back here in Minneapolis in the mid-1980s.

The only possible conclusion to be drawn from that was the so-called "feminists" were as repressed, prudish, anti-sex and generally psychologically messed up as the religulously insane god-botherers.

I think a lot of it is religious guilt and fundamentalism rebranded or sublimated.
