Everybody Remember Fitzmas

I see people here already counting the days until they can piss on Christie's political grave. Some are even floating the idea of criminal charges and the not if hell froze over ideas of resignation and impeachment.

I remember getting caught up big time in the giddy days of Fitzmas. Thinking that Rove and maybe even Cheney would get wound up and brought down in a massive investigation by Patrick Fitzgerald. In the end we got Scooter fuckin' Libby and we barely even got him.

Keep the dream of an end to the career of this asshole but don't forget that it's probably a long shot. My best guess is this will seriously hurt him in NJ but probably not so much Nationally.

We can hope for an end to Christie's political ambitions and there's no doubt that this is going to cost him something no matter how it turns out but most people in the country barely have an idea of what the GWB is and don't know that blocking three lanes of traffic for a few days can back things up for hours each day to hundreds of thousands of people trying to get across.

I was so convinced for awhile that at the very least Rove was going to go down for it.

taking Fitzmas seriously. In fact I don't remember Fitzmas having any effect other than proving citizen journalism should be taken with a grain of salt. Comparing Chisties very real scandal to that bit of nonsense is ridiculous.

as a term may be a bit of nonsense the investigation itself was not. If you don't remember the Fitzgerald investigations of the Plame scandal taking up quite a bit of time on the news I'd like to know what rock you were under.

Fitzmas was coined, by a DUer I think, simply to point out the excitement of those of us hoping for a big outcome to the Plame investigations.

and I was trying to point out that getting super overexcited about an end to the career of serial asshole Chris Christie is kind of premature.

trouble but they sure were taking it seriously. That didn't prevent the criminals from getting away with their crimes. That was when we began to realize just how corrupt the system is. And how complicit the Corporate media is.

The NYT certainly took it seriously considering their own involvement in it for one thing.

And if you think Christie is finished, well it all depends on who is sponsoring him. If he's on the right side of Wall St, he will probably survive, or go away for a while, then return, completely rehabilitated. And the public will develop amnesia.

But if he's done anything to upset the Corporate bosses they all work for, he will probably have to go but not for the reasons we would like, ethics, morality, corruption etc.

investigation had nothing to do with "Fitzmas",which was a celebration that broke out over false reports that Rove was soon to be arrested. No media source took that report seriously.

not to, seriously is hardly worthy of any serious consideration. Still, one or two of them DID take it seriously, then backed away for whatever reason. A call from an inside 'source' maybe as the rush to bail them out went into high gear. Who knows, but they did get away with a treasonous act, that we know and as a result continue to wield enough power to influence serious issues in this country. That is the price we pay when criminals are not held accountable.

Christie's throwing his staff under a bus and that will be the end of it. If anybody brings it up in 2016 it will be rejected as old news. That's just what Schwarzenegger did with his groping scandal while running for California Governor. I remember seeing a reporter shout a gropergate question to Arnie and his reply was, "Old news." He got by with it. So will Christie. Teabaggers don't like him but the corporate toadies do and that's where the money comes from.

playing it up to crowds of pukes that hate NYC just because it's NYC. Kind of like those indefensible assholes wearing purple heart band-aids during the Bush/Kerry contest in 2004. They have no shame and they're proud of it.
