A repost from over a month ago. Very pertinent now. He's a bully to teachers when he should be showing respect to them.
Look at the big grin on his wife's face. Disgusting.
Christie's temper tantrum toward a teacher
I went to listen to him speak. I stood in the front of the crowd that was standing towards the back. I know he caught sight of me. He stared at me a few times during his speech. I left right as his speech was over to position myself right at the door of the bus. He came out, shaking everyone's hands as he was getting on the bus. I asked him my question, expecting him to ignore me but he suddenly turned and went off.
I asked him: "Why do you portray our schools as failure factories?" His reply: "Because they are!" He said: "I am tired of you people. What do you want?"
I told him I want money for my students. He fought back with the amount that he has spent on education. My response was along the lines of the fact his amount was not actually an increase from the previous years, given the rate of inflation and other factors. ...
The crowd started arguing with me. He screamed at me to just do my job. The crowd cheered for him. I just looked at them and told them: "Hey, this is my life. I had to do this." I tried to follow him to Atlantic City to continue the conversation but the roads were blocked by police when I got there.

Here is the sign the teacher was holding. Note the message that NJ was ranked 3rd in the nation in school quality. Yet there was the governor screaming at a teacher as his wife smiled/smirked.

(710 posts)I firmly believe that Christie is finished.
When these staffers are brought up on criminal charges (possibly even negligent homicide if any deaths can be tied to the lane closures), then these staffers wont try and cover for him anymore, they will all become snitches

Gov. Christie attacks teachers' unions in front of a roomful of students.
A day ahead of school budget elections statewide, Gov. Chris Christie today escalated his war of words with the state teachers' union, accusing union representatives of "using the students like drug mules" to carry information about whether their parents planned to vote.
Christie cited what he called a "mandatory" homework assignment instructing children in the Monroe Township School District to interview their parents about whether and why they would vote on Tuesday.
"These are the typical kind of scare tactics that they involve themselves in," Christie said about the 200,000-member New Jersey Education Association, which has been critical of his proposed $820 million cut in school aid. "Scaring students in the classroom, scaring parents with the notes home in the bookbags, and the mandatory 'Project Democracy Homework' asking your parents about what they're going to do in the school board election, and reporting back to your teachers union representatives, using the students like drug mules to carry information back to the classroom, is reprehensible."

(11,122 posts)This kind of thing is why he is a hero to republicans and some democrats (those of the reagan loving persuasion).
Just think how it would have been if our president - the one we campaigned for and elected - would have publicly rebuked christie when he did this. Then he would have deserved all the good things I told groups of teachers about him in 2004. Fooled me once.
