On the Today Show this morning, the NBC weatherman told Limbaugh to "stuff it:
Al Roker has this to say to all the haters out there: The polar vortex is real, and anyone who doesn't believe that can "stuff it."
Roker got the last word on the "polar vortex" controversy Wednesday morning when he pulled out an old college textbook from 1959 that contained a term ID for the weather condition.

(9,462 posts)his broadcast. In other words, advertising (propaganda) during the show that people don't know about. I think that's also the case with the 60 Minutes story on both Benghazi and climate change from last Sunday's show.
So basically, it doesn't matter if Rush believes it or not, he'll say it because that is how he makes his money. We need laws that force shows to acknowledge whether they are receiving funds for "sponsored content".

(7,720 posts)or Roker. What I find interesting is that Roker dug out an old meteorology text book. We know he never used it in his own college studies since he is not a meteorologist.

(3,626 posts)He doesn't claim to be a meteorologist, AFIK. And he may, indeed, have taken such a course. I don't know one way or another, and I suspect that neither do you. I don't watch AL and Company, but I would never lump him in with the Evil of the Airwaves, Limpballs.

(7,720 posts)Al did. It is true, Roker is not a meteorologist and does not even have the "NWS Seal of Approval" that many 'weather anchors' do.

I made a smartass comment about Al Roker. Why does it bother you so much?

(1,588 posts)I do not have the stomach to listen to Limbaugh. I do read reports of his abuse of the airwaves and this one reinforces the fact that this sorry excuse for a human being, in addition to spouting his racist beliefs, is happy in spreading ignorance. He is probably the single most divisive person in America. How any advertiser can be associated with him is beyond me.

(2,518 posts)I had never heard the term "polar vortex" until this week. But I certainly did not even imagine that the term did not exist until this week.
The very first thing I did was go to Wikipedia. It says:
"The polar vortex was first described as early as 1853. The phenomenon sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) appears during the wintertime in the northern hemisphere and was discovered 1952 with radiosonde observations at altitudes higher than 20 km."
I guess Rush has never heard of Wikipedia.

(15,245 posts)In the unnamed nutjob's tiny mind any avoidance of the truth is vindication. Limbaugh's entire purpose is to elicit a response to his inane comments much the same as Palin who does it with fewer words.
