He doesn't think he did anything wrong. I haven't heard anyone talking about it at all.

when I heard what he'd said. I'm a man, but the mere thought of forcing a woman to do that and then saying she ought just shut her eyes actually made my stomach convulse, literally. This is just sickening, offensive, wrong, EXTREMELY AND UNBELIEVABLY SEXIST, and so many other adjectives which fail me right now.

To be honest it's so offensive I thought maybe I'd misunderstood it, thinking "well no way someone actually believes that." And as is so often the case with the increasing radicalization of the Republican Party, I discovered to my horror that I'd yet again overestimated their sense of decency. I'll try not to do that in the future.

I know that the governor of Pennsylvania, about to sign one of those ultrasound bills, said nobody was being "forced" to do anything, because the woman could simply close her eyes while the ultrasound was being performed. Fortunately, nobody thought to ask, then, why the law was being enacted if it could be obviated so easily. Otherwise the governor would have looked like a prize idiot. So, that's all to the good.

Still leaves unanswered the question of why this additional expense (tax?) is being levied on women. Republicans sure get bent out of shape when people contemplate taxing wealthy people another three cents on every dollar they "earn" after the first $250,000 annually, but they seem perfectly all right with forcing other people to pay for a medical procedure they don't want, may not be able to afford, and which can be rendered useles by the simple expedient of closing one's eyes.

But don't tell them this...Pubbies won't believe it anyway. I think we will see something interesting when, and it will come, the pushback becomes obvious.

I had to have one before my abortion, though (was given the option not to, but with the pain I was having, there was concern it was ectopic, so it was the only rational choice).

I was just wondering...where are the women of PA (the way the women of VA reacted)?

These lawmakers should be shamed BIG TIME!
