PLEASE CALL NOW! Only FIVE votes needed: Throw their Christian values in their faces.

I just called Senator Marco Rubio's office and-- even though I already know the answer-- I asked if he is supporting reinstating unemployment benefits. The staff person replied, "Not at this time." I told her that I thought it was very un-Christian-like of Rubio to not support unemployment benefits and just plain wrong to hurt people that are already hurting. Her tone changed completely as I said this.

We need to hold them accountable to the Christian values they say they believe in.

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:17-18

The fate of 1.3 million unemployed Americans could ride on your response to this email.

It's not an exaggeration: as soon as today, the Senate will decide whether or not to reinstate desperately needed unemployment benefits to struggling people across the country, and many Republican Senators are still sitting on the fence. If constituents like you call your Senators right now and tell them how important it is that they vote for an extension we might be able to win their votes. Stay silent, and tens of thousands of families could permanently lose the funds they need to make ends meet.

Call your Senator today and tell them to vote to extend unemployment benefits immediately, then let us know what they say so we can update our whip count.

We only need 5 Republicans to break ranks in order to reinstate these vital benefits. It's an election year, and each and every Congressional Republican has constituents back home who will suffer if this doesn't pass. They don't want to cast a vote that they will make people angry back home. So they all have their ears to the ground right now, waiting to see if anyone is willing to make a fuss over this vote.

Don't let your Senator off the hook. Call them now and let them know that their constituents want unemployment benefits extended.

EW gave a great speech at the Walsh inauguration, as did Deval Patrick.

Walsh's speech was quite the thing, too--I am gonna miss Menino, but maybe this guy will be all right.

Actually no. The extension will have to go through the House...the Senate vote is worthless without a spending bill from the other chamber appropriating the money.
