As obnoxious as Blago is, it's too bad he's doing his time so far from his family

It's going to be all but impossible for his wife & daughter to even visit him.

I know he's a creep, but even creeps can benefit from being able to see their families

4. No, it's not too bad. He cared nothing for his family when he committed the crime.

Being far away also gives his family an excuse not to have to see him.

A thousand miles away. Meanwhile, there are at least three federal prisons in Illinois.

out of his stomping grounds.

My father and his wife used to go from MO to FL once a month to visit one of his former bosses in the pen. It was a strain on them but they made that trip for years until he passed away in prison.

Any burdens placed upon his family was done BY HIM.

No tears from me.

7. Yes, and he is by no means alone. Hundreds of thousands of prisoners share that fate.

Of the 118 federal prison facilities--stop and ponder that for a moment!--at least three are in Illinois. Why are prisoners incarcerated hundreds or thousands of miles from loved ones? Does anyone have a good answer for that?

It is a minimum security facility that has seen dozens of Chicago and Illinois politicians. I suspect Blago will end up there sooner or later.
