Miguel Morin was 8 months old when, police say, his baby sitter took him for what was supposed to be just one night in 2004. The sitter, Krystle Rochelle Tanner, was Miguels godmother and friends with his mother, police say.
Now, eight years after his disappearance, Miguel will be reunited with his mother, Auboni Champion-Morin of Houston, pending a DNA test, Click2houston.com reported Wednesday. She says she never gave up hope that she would find her child.
"I prayed every night that he was safe, loved and he would come home one day," Champion-Morin told the Houston television station.

(23,272 posts)A person of color perhaps? I really hate thinking that...
I'm really grateful the boy was found, and it sounds as though he's had a terrible time with Tanner, but this ain't gonna be easy for this mom and this boy. Sounds like he hasn't even been in school yet. My deepest hopes and dreams for them to have a life of joy and happiness however going forward!

The colloquial (add emphasis, and most obviously implied in the post) in America is "white".

(2,899 posts)relatives, yet the police gave up after two years and the mother just prayed??? There must be more to this. This doesn't sound right to me.
If someone I knew took my baby and I knew their relatives, I would not rest till I got him back. And it would not have taken 8 years...eight hours at the most.

Tanner's relatives in Houston told police that she and the infant had vanished. The case went cold and was closed in 2006, said Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham of the San Augustine Sheriff's Department"
