According to Americas most famous televangelist, sex acts between married couples are only a sin if the individuals participating are filled with enough shame.
Responding to a viewer question on his show Wednesday, Christian fundamentalist preacher Pat Robertson suggested that oral sex between a husband and a wife is perfectly fine unless, that is, If you feel its sin. Then, its sin, Robertson said.
Watching the video below, its difficult not to feel bad for co-host Kristi Watts, whos forced to read the question off a cue card, groaning in horror when she sees it.
Dont look at me, she said. Im too young for that question.

(19,339 posts)I suppose if one partner is reluctant to participate in oral sex, and the other partner pressures the first partner into participating, that could be a sinful act -- the pressuring, I mean. But if defining sin comes from whether one "feels like" it's a sin or not -- that's just askig for trouble, wouldn't one think?

(12,530 posts)...just go with the imagery of St. Peter at the pearly gates. Is he really going to check a list to see if you went down on your wife, or the converse? Really, there must be some segment of the population that just needs to be led around by the nose. There must be people who ask Robertson how to go about tying their shoes. It's pathetic.

(37,161 posts)Thanks, Pat! Good to see you've joined us "relativists".
Of course, this and the reversal on marijuana won't make up for the decades of wrong-headed politics and propagandizing for it under the guise of a "religious" network (not to mention your coddling dictators), but it's a start.

(5,436 posts)But I thought evangelicals & other fundamentalists tsay there is only one "truth". How can a sin be situationally-dependent?
Once again, (obligatory moderation: some) religious leaders show their true nature. When you get old, you start letting truth-bombs (30 Rock) fly. I bet a lot of the accountants at Robertson's "church" are tearing their hair out.
And I bet the accounting dept at his "church" is the biggest dept there!

(12,712 posts)to err or to miss the mark, then oral sex done wrong is actually a sin.
Guilt trips can be considered an overlay on behavior.
That woman on his show had some interesting behavior concerning the subject. it was almost as if someone were asking her to clean-up a dead spider.
Sounds like Pat has been hit his stash more these days. He is interspersing some odd things within his usual, dogmatic diatribes.
