SCGOP “Purity Pledge” Proponent Steps Down

The South Carolina Republican official who insisted that candidates for public office sign a “purity pledge” before being placed on the ballot has resigned from his post, sources tell FITS.

Laurens County GOP chairman Bobby Smith – whose controversial pledge became the latest in a long line of national embarrassments for the Palmetto State – gave up his seat late Wednesday during an emergency meeting of the county party’s executive committee.

Well, they sure got rid of him in a nanosecond.
They don't want any part of a purity pledge. Have to be able to wander the Appalachian Trail.

What have the R's been accusing the D's of lately? That's always a big clue.

the fact he was really pushing it. There could be a scandal brewing, but I think that was one step too far for them. Who knows what else he was planning? They wanted no part of it.

They would continue looking and tell people it was research into what to avoid. They are all ethically and morally challenged.
