Health care and the economy top the list of issues that Americans want the government to work on, but no one believes that Congress will actually get anything done. Seventy percent have no confidence that the federal government "can make progress on the important problems and issues it faces in 2014." Confidence in state and local governments is higher, but still low.

More than half are pessimistic about the opportunity for most people to achieve the American Dream. Fifty four percent believe life will get worse over the next 50 years compared to just 23% who say it will get better. However, 54% also believe that life in America has gotten worse since the 1970s.

1. Just a little over 30% care about the deficit. That must be the teabaggers.

I think that's about the percentage that supported Bush until the end. And count me in as someone who thinks we've been in a long decline since the 70's, and it isn't over.

2. Oh my dear fellow Americans... Healthcare is "done"... it's been "reformed"!

One wonders how much less popular the ACA will be once this realization dawns on people.

3. Interesting. Welfare IS part of the economy. I do not think it is wise to separate them. Just look

at what happened when they separated food stamps from the farm bill. I think I read that because of the economy there are more living in poverty. If the one is the cause of the other then they are not separate issues.
