(102,292 posts)A little hypoglycemia combined with a rush of vasoconstriction to frozen hands and feet is quite enough to cause it... definitely not funny

(53,789 posts)She leaned back a little and tried to steady herself unsuccessfully with the two ski poles in one hand (the mic in the other didn't help), and because she was on the skis with her feet locked into them she couldn't easily just shift her feet to gain her balance.

(961 posts)But she carried on like a trooper, so I have to give her two thumbs up for making the best of the whole situation.
It's a little funnier the second time you watch because you know she's going to be OK.

(25,943 posts)If so, you may recall such incidents occurring in boot camp. In my case, most of the time it occurred while waiting outside the mess hall, which may mean hypoglycemia played a role in addition to locked knees.

(36,312 posts)I passed out while standing at attention when we were practicing the graduation day ceremony. And because I did that, I got to sit in the stands during the actual graduation!

(25,943 posts)The worst incident centered around standing at attention occurred when the captain decided to have an all-hands personnel inspection and I had to present my division in the absence of the usual guy, who was on leave. Anyway, this guy standing behind me to the left picked that moment to get sick, barfing right beside me just before the captain arrived. I surprised myself by staying composed when the captain arrived and I said my presentation schtick. The captain deftly walked around the vomit without so much as raising an eyebrow and nothing was ever said about it.

(36,312 posts)my fellow worker and I stuffed an EM into one of the big laundry bags. He put up a heck of a fight but we got him in there and tossed him on to the pile of laundry bags full of regular laundry. Then the XO showed up to make his morning inspection. As he walked by the laundry bags, he stopped and looked at the moving one but just for a little while and then continued the inspection. He told us we had done a good job and left after which we released the very pissed off EM from his confines.
