(39,961 posts)I don't think so. Most people in the US have no idea what a onesey is, and if they do, they'd call it a jumper.

(11,101 posts)my wife calls that a onesie. If she's secretly British then she's hidden it well.

(15,682 posts)20 years, at least, knows what a onsie is. It's a newborn essential, and if I'm not mistaken, is labled "Onsie" by one or more baby clothing manufacturers.

(42,770 posts)it posted here still to save it to your pc, pull up a program like photobucket.com, upload it, and
then copy in the link?
I am hoping there is now an easier way - since it's such a pain

(62,276 posts)...go to "properties" and grab the image address from there.
That's called "hotlinking" and it doesn't always work (some hosts look for your "referrer" and if it's not from the primary site it will show a different image or an error message, but it works about 90% of the time).
frazzled
(18,402 posts)I don't know how it works on your computer, but on a Mac all you have to do is click command-option while on a web page image, and a menu pops up that allows you to "copy image" or "copy image address." For DU, you must copy the image address (its url, not the image itself) and paste it into your post. Voila, the image should appear just fine (if it's a jpg).

(9,527 posts)In fact I remember hearing the term onesie used on the tv show Gilmore Girls so it can't be that uncommon. Wikipedia notes that Gerber has the term trademarked and has pursued legal remedies against companies that have attempted to use the term.

(595 posts)for about 11 years... before my kids I had no idea what they were called... maybe it's regional like Pop, Soda, Coke or Tonic (that is a whole other can of worms)
mackattack
(344 posts)Umm no it isnt. It's pop. Anything else is wrong and you should feel embarrassed if you dont say pop.

(595 posts)the pop, soda, coke, tonic debate could rip the very fabric of our society apart...
BTW... I grew up saying tonic until I was 10 (eastern MA) then moved through the soda region of western MA and eastern NY to the POP belt of WNY. It's funny but around syracuse NY the line is very fine.
it's very well documented

(1,374 posts)sometimes I say pop and sometimes soda. Though now that they say it can kill you maybe we should create a new name.

But yeah, "onesie" is American. "Jumper," to me, means a girl's sleeveless dress meant to be worn over a turtleneck or other layer. It also means sweater or pullover to speakers of British English, including Australians.

JNelson6563
(28,151 posts)It's just that it's rarely men who buy the baby clothes so it would make sense that the term "onesie" would seem foreign.
