Teh Hypocrisy, IT BURNS!
First, a little background.
I have a friend / co-worker who is just as much a "flaming Liberal" as I am. We'll call him "D". He has been dating a single mother who is also a RW Fundie. He loves her kids, and they get along great as long as they don't talk politics or religion. We'll call her "K".
My friend D is a self-admitted "smart@ss" with a warped sense of humor (like me!) and loves to argue politics and religion. We have ben on a couple of different forums together, and although we both have different styles of debate when we team up the RW's tend to just stop posting. I guess you could call us "thread killers", because it seems that no RW's want to have an open discussion with the both of us. They will try for a while, and then just give up.
Anyway, my friend D will often email his GF K and sometimes forward me her response. Sometimes because of my Google skills because I will feed links and articles, sometimes because I feed him an outside response, but many times because he just wants to "share" the stupidity of her RW replies.
In one of these forwarded emails, she tried to justify her "Welfare Queen" attitudes. She talked about how much she hated to to Wal-Mart and buying clothes, only to see the person in front of her buying - in her words - "name-brand clothes" (at Wall-Mart?) that "she couldn't afford" and paying for them with a Government EBT card. My first response was "Wall-Mart? When you see them using their cards at Neiman-Marcus, then let's talk".
She breaks up with him almost daily. And then they have sex. And then they are in love again. One thing D doesn't talk much about but I can see as underlying motivations, D really likes her kids. Of course, D is a confirmed bachelor and would never admit such a thing, but I suspect that it's a contributing factor other than the sex. But obviously the physical sex is a contributing factor on both ends.
OK, on to the Good Stuff! Today, he received an email "action alert" from Debbie Wasserman about the Republican war on Planned Parenthood. He forwarded it to both K and myself. He didn't even do a blind CC: (we actually have a history from FB battles on D's wall, but that's another story - and a good one!) Of course, she replied to him and not to me.
He simply forwarded the email to her, with no comment. Her reply, and I quote:
I hate planned parenthood. The health department is cheaper for the consumer.
The "health department" she was talking about is the Nashville/Davidson County Health Department which is almost totally SOCIALIST!
Looking up the annual report for Nashville Metro Health Department 2010 online, 60% of the "health department" was funded by local Metro taxes. 6% was provided by private donation/other, 8% was provided by fees. That means that 86% of her total health care expense - INCLUDING contraception, was paid for by Socialist means. We're not even talking Public Option, or even Single Payer insurance - Doctors and specialists paid directly by the government by the most Socialist program imaginable.
Not quite as good as "Keep your government hands off of my Medicare!" - but pretty damn close!

but either way, it's worthy of a facepalm
...about the guy who went on a rant saying the the taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for it, the government should! 
These people are clueless, they cannot understand anything beyond the concrete reality of their daily lives.
I can deal with apolitical, but Republican I don't know.
