The New Gilded Age in One Christmas Card
December 29, 2013 | Erik Loomis
Jamie Dimons Christmas card basically sums up the New Gilded Age.
Youd also think for all that money Dimon could at least afford the proper number of buttons on his shirt.

(63,216 posts)The format was the same each year, a 20-page brochure with each branch of the entire huge, dynastic family pictured in glossy color photos, complete with a brief write-up of the year's births and developments for each branch. One year, in fact, they all jetted to the Vatican and were pictured with the pontiff himself. I'm not exaggerating.
We would get these cards every year, in lieu of a raise or a bonus, and the message was clear each time: "Worship us, even though we don't pay you enough to afford food or heat."
I know of at least one person who was fired--yes fired--for throwing his card into the trash.
Although Dimon's crass and ostentatious display is disgusting, it's by no means rare, and in fact it's emblematic of how the leisure class lives and plays 365 days a year.

(23,350 posts)... this is hardly a "Gilded" activity.
No picture of the yacht, the jet, etc.
I think this photo is sorta low-key.

(16,113 posts)He should have gone with last year's picture of Dimon in a tattered jacket scratching lotto tickets in front of a Qwik-E-Mart with a scowl on his face. There's lots of good reasons to dislike Dimon and his ilk... this just isn't one of those.
