LGBT people who identify as conservative and are finding themselves divided over the flap surrounding Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertsons controversial remarks about same sex attraction and African-American civil rights. According to USA Today, prominent gay conservatives have very different takes on the issue.
Robertson set off a firestorm of controversy when he opined to GQ magazine reporter Drew Magary that same sex attractions are a sin and thats not logical, my man.
It seems like, to me, a vaginaas a manwould be more desirable than a mans anus, he said. Thats just me. Im just thinking: Theres more there! Shes got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what Im saying?
Robertson was very briefly suspended by A&E, the network that carries Duck Dynasty, but on Friday, the network announced that season 5 of the program will go forward as planned with Robertsons participation.
The knee jerk reaction of some on the right to actually defend this kind of ugliness is yet another reminder of just how out of touch these folks are with where America is and where America is going, said Chris Barron of GOProud to USA Today.

I take issue with the articles description of the Duck jack ass' remarks as "controversial" ... they were not controversial, they were racist and homophobic ... the only reason there is controversy is that RACISTS and HOMOPHOBES are given a seat at the table

It's a bad choice of words. Granted, I think both 'racist' and 'homophobic' are bad choices of words too. 'Ignorant', 'antiquated', 'outdated', 'out of touch'...those all work just fine for me.
I still think it was just a marketing ploy, but whatever -- he's like the silly old grandpa at the table for Thanksgiving. "Yes, yes, grandpa we know how it was back in your day, thank you for storytime and reminding us why we move forward. Now isn't it time for your medicine?"
Edit: Dammit, I went and forgot the secondary spiel of vile things he spewed (the 'evil murderers' part). I suppose homophobic and racist -do- work for me after all.

(22,165 posts)... how can anybody simply call what he said "outdated"? Vile worked for me but not outdated. Your edit cleared it all up, thanks
