Sigh! Once again the Oklahoma Legislature

is at it again.

Even if the bill allows for an exemption, the pressure will be on for all to participate. My beef would be the inclusion of "under God" which violates separation of church and state.

What they fail to see is that, just because you force someone to say a bunch of words, it does not mean anything without intent. Just like the oath that any Republican politician takes to protect and defend the Constitution is usually meaningless because they do neither.

Bill Requires Young Oklahoma Students To Recite Pledge Of Allegiance

OKLAHOMA CITY -

A bill to require all public elementary school children in Oklahoma to recite the Pledge of Allegiance each day and for every public school in the state to own and display a U.S. flag is among education proposals filed in advance of the 2014 legislative session.

The bill by Republican Sen. Rob Standridge of Norman requires saying the Pledge of Allegiance daily at elementary schools and allows the recitation once daily in other public schools.

The Journal Record reports that the bill also provides an exemption for students who do not wish to take part in the pledge.
