I just can't understand how the Indian PSA could cause such a stir here on DU

Did everyone actually view it? It's awfully modest. It doesn't even presume to tell anyone what they ought or ought not do. It just holds up a mirror (literally and figuratively) to gawkers, so they can see what they look like when they're gawking. That's all.

4. I don't think its honest to suggest that a single post is reponsible for where DU is today

For example, by the time I logged in, there were so many tangential threads (that were entirely divorced from the original topic) that I didn't even see the PSA in question. I responded only to the "fallout" threads. Secondly, my perception of such a fallout was already influenced by months of this same crap. So where I am today (and some other people I'd imagine) had little to nothing to do with this PSA. Just my two cents.

I really don't want to go back there to the thread. I did recommend it, as did many others, but the thread itself veered off into such topics as Asperger's and what all else.
