There's One DU Discussion Group that Everyone Should Avoid

Devoted to sensual pleasures, it is full of temptation for the unwitting visitor. Detailed descriptions of sensuality and excess are a commonplace in this DU group, and it's also full of photos that will entice you into staring at them and lusting after what is in those photos. It's addictive, this group is, and it deals with an activity that all of us seek out and sometimes even pay for. Beware the seductive language and images you might find there!

I warn you all: Avoid the Cooking & Baking Group. If you value your waistline and don't want to be encouraged to excesses of consumption, DO NOT GO THERE. The DUers who frequent that group will present you with temptations aplenty to distract you from serious issues that really need your attention. They'll lead to to commit the deadly sin of Gluttony by describing fleshly pleasures and even instructions for preparing those pleasures to inflict on your friends and families.

DO NOT VISIT THE COOKING & BAKING GROUP! If temptation threatens to overcome your will, and you yearn to click the link below:

Don't say I didn't warn you. BTW, read the post about goose. Goose is a great, fresh change from the usual holiday fare. You see, I'm lost in the sensuality of it all, too.

Very simple and easy, no gmo corn syrup.

2 cups sugar.

1 cup half and half

1/3 stick butter

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups pecans.

Combine all ingredients except the pecans in a heavy saucepan. Over medium heat stir mixture until it boils and bubbles. Turn heat down to medium low, continuing stirring until all sugar melted. (Remember to stir any sugar down from the sides of the pan.)

Cook and continue to stir until mixture temperature is 238 to 241 deg. F. or soft ball stage. (A drop of mixture in cold water forms soft ball.)

Add pecans, stir until mixture begins to thicken and changes to creamy and cloudy, drop by spoonful onto parchment paper.

While pralines are cooling, make fresh coffee and call friends and/or neighbors to join you.

When I was newly married at 18 years old we went to Mobile Alabama to live and rented a garage apartment. (First time I'd ever been to the South.) The landlady lived in the big antebellum house and kind of adopted me. She taught me how to make pralines. I will definitely try your recipe, Todays_Illusion. Thanks!
