Out of Touch: The GOP Doesn't 'Get it'

When one reads or listens to the veritable storm of blabber coming out of the 'right' these days from personages such as radio personality and right-wingnut hate monger Rush Limbaugh, or the seriously out of touch Republican Senator Ryan Mcdougle who introduced a bill requiring women considering abortions in Virginia to undergo a transvaginal ultrasound it becomes eminently clear that the GOP is hopelessly out of touch and doesn't get it.
Men like Limbaugh and Mcdougle are clearly tragically misaligned with the best interests of the public. They spout hatred and persecution on a daily basis in a bald faced, shameless and unapologetic matter and when, inevitably, their absurd remarks and actions draw a firestorm of criticism from the public they cry 'Et Tu Brutei'! 'Not Fair!'

Consider Rush Limbaugh's recent indecent comment referring to college student Sandra Fluke as a 'slut' and a 'prostitute' for seeking birth control. It appears that among the right wing there is nothing wrong with a comment such as this. But ask the question 'Rush Limbaugh is a known painkiller addict-does that make him an addict? Should we use the word 'junkie' or 'dope-head'? And see what your reaction would be. Men like Limbaugh regularly and repeatedly malign people like Fluke and see nothing wrong with it. Indeed they call it their 'moral obligation'! But when anyone makes a comment concerning their lack of tact and indecency their party rallies around them shouting, stomping their feet and pointing their fingers in a show of nepotistic reactionism. What was the old saying when we were children? A couple come to mind- 'What goes around comes around' and 'you can dish it out, but you can't take it'. Clearly, the GOP doesn't 'get' that their ugly comments and destructive rhetoric have inevitable and well deserved negative reactions. Out of Touch.

Also consider Senator Ryan McDougle (R, Virginia) who proposed a bill to the Virginia Senate that would require any woman seeking an abortion to undergo a compulsory transvaginal ultrasound before the proceedure could be performed. This is clearly a discriminatory and mysogenistic move which is a livid insult to the dignity of women living in the state of Virginia. Adding another layer of insult to the offense is the fact that the Va Senate is composed of old men. How are women being fairly represented in this case? Out of Touch.
One wonders how it is that men like McDougle ever get the notions to introduce bills such as these? Is he a pervert? He insults the voters of Virginia and abroad (as indeed this bill could have broad ranging consequences) by assuming anyone would vote for such an absurd and invasive thing in the first place. What woman would willingly sign a vote on a bill giving the government the right to violate the most personal aspects of her body as it desires? Further, the Senator insults the unapologetically insults the public's sense of decency with a bill like this. Out of Touch.

Has the Right Wing become so disconnected from reality that they can no longer see the shame and indecency of their own actions? It would seem so. Medical science has a term for individuals who cannot consciously define between the rights and wrongs of their actions:

Sociopaths.

They don't give a fuck either. They don't have to. Where the money goes, the power follows. It's a shame that America has been 'bought' in this way.

Still, you can't deny that a lot of the most radical and ludicrous concepts in politics today are found on the right.
