Seattle is kicking ass in more ways than one these days.

(54,770 posts)The gun fanciers seem to think a gun is the only way. I think more often than not, a gun makes it worse.
My favorite stories are when some feeble elderly lady brings down a criminal -- like Loughner.
The gun crowd just won't acknowledge there are better ways to handle this stuff than arming up and training like Zimmerman to shoot people center mass.

(41,990 posts)I have to admit I got an evil laugh out of seeing them take the fool down, but I was warmed by the fact that they didn't take the "none of my business" approach and let the guy go it alone.

(18,318 posts)The methodology depends on the circumstances. I wouldn't have chosen the threatened citizen's particular action, preferring an attack from behind, but it worked out.

(10,201 posts)bad guy goes to rob the man sitting (who is listen to something on his phone).
Good guy grabs the gun and takes the fight to the robber. Good guy keeps advancing.
Good guy throws a punch... But first takes the time to put his phone into the pocket of his coat.
He had the bad guy's gun in one hand, and his phone in the other. He needs to throw a punch, but damn it, he had his phone in his hand...
I have to hand it to the first guy. He reacted quick, and did exactly what the bad guy didn't expect. He took the fight to the bad guy while giving everyone else time to react.

(10,201 posts)monetarily valuable possession he had on him.
I'm sitting here thinking about it, and my phone cost me more than all my clothes, shoes, and the entire contents of my wallet, including the cost of the wallet.
