Thanks. I too often require a slap in the face to appreciate the buzzy, bloomin' abundance around me. It's too easy to fall into despair.

My Scandahoovian blood has been coursing thru my veins this year and I've made a couple of batches lefse. I'm going to end up making more too, I've found out it makes a great christmas gift. My indoor bike is going to get a real workout - real soon.

a couple weeks ago. When I was a kid, we had an old wood cook stove that we used primarily for heat. My mom would make a batch of lefse and cook it directly on the stove top lids.

My mom made it under the broiler, toasting it just enough to caramelize some of the sugar. Yum!

She also used to tear a hole in a piece of bread, and fry it in butter with an egg in the hole. Special breakfasts to put a smile on the faces of her three kids. She's 89 years old now, and isn't doing that any longer, so when I was out visiting my parents last week, I made the toasted bread with egg for her and my father. Smiles all around.
