It is time for progressives to take the offensive!

I am feeling inspired about Senator Warren's successful reversal of the discussion regarding Social Security. The right wing has previously framed all the arguments while the left plays prevent defense. This approach has aided the movement toward the right on all debated topics. Senator Warren has reminded us of this now obvious point. We need to reframe other debates in Washington and across the nation. Something like:

Entitlement reform = An end to corporate subsidies.

Cutting the budget = Defense cuts + rich paying their fair share.

Food stamps = Discussion on economic benefits of SNAP increases.

Abortion = Women's rights and income inequality.

Gay rights = Human rights.

Drug war = moving issue from criminality into a public health issue.

Minimum wage = minimum acceptable standard of living.

War = The last option for an international coalition when ALL other avenues of international diplomacy have failed.

If employers are "job creators" well payed workers are "economy growers".

You get the idea.
