A campaign e-mail from a liberal candidate.

A different approach from what we normally see...

Hello all,

'Tis the Season for Giving . . . This time of year, our e-mail inboxes and mailboxes are jammed with requests for donations to numerous worthy and important organizations that need our help, including political campaigns.

You may have noticed our campaign hasn't been among those sending such requests, and I want to take a minute and tell you why.

Frankly, times are hard and the holidays can cause extra financial pressure.

I just didn't feel right about doing aggressive fundraising at a time of year, which should be about family and loved ones and those most in need. After all, this campaign is about People, first and foremost.

Friends, make no mistake, you WILL be hearing from me starting Jan. 2, 2014. We have a rigorous fundraising campaign planned that will kick in immediately following the New Year, and have already received donations and pledges of the maximum individual donation for matching challenges.

For now, though, in this Season of Giving, let's focus on friends, family, and those in our community who are struggling. If we find we DO have extra, whether time or money, let's turn our attention toward those who will otherwise go without.

Please see this list of local efforts to aid neighbors and community members, here in Northern Michigan. http://www.unitedwaynwmi.org/content/holiday-wish-list

I wish each of you abundant peace and joy, however you choose to celebrate this holiday season.

Warmly,

Betsy Coffia
Candidate for State Representative, 104th District

I thought this was lovely and says something about her character.
