"Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson has been suspended "indefinitely" for anti gay remarks

http://www.today.com/entertainment/duck-dynasty-patriarch-suspended-show-anti-gay-comments-2D11773442

Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson has been taken off the A&E hit series "indefinitely," following anti-gay comments he made in a GQ interview published Wednesday.

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series 'Duck Dynasty,' a network statement issued late Wednesday said. "His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Glad you're here! Amazing what gets on TV. Low-life then lower-life, then lowest-life, and still dropping even beneath that!

Shit, we were just talking about this last night. The whole lowest-common-denominator factor. The whole how-low-can-you-go thing. How this is part of the whole general debasement of the national zeitgeist or mindset or whatever you might call it. Just LOWlife. But the fact that these folks are now on television and on the covers of magazines and wealthy beyond belief, unfortunately, sets a bad example and sends a HORRIBLE message. All you have to be is a flea-bitten dumbshit or trendy slut or something to be rich and famous. It's not because of merit. It's not because of superior intellect or brainpower. It's not because of hard work. It's the titillation factor, the "I can't believe what I just heard on TV/the radio" mentality, the I'm gonna out-outrage you or the ever-popular "double-down" phraseology (that gained traction during the bush/cheney era) What I hate about all this is how it rewards and reinforces all the bad things, the worst and most embarrassing and most revolting and low-life behavior. It raises this idiotic shit to something worth admiring and emulating - because if you push the envelope, maybe YOU'LL wind up with your own TV show!!! I feel the same way about "Teen Mom." I feel the same way about "The Real Housewives of Fill-in-the-Blank-Here." I feel the same way about the Kartrashians. I feel the same way about the whole "Jersey Shore" business. How the worst in us is lifted up on high to be honored and admired and worshiped and lavishly rewarded. THAT SHIT is what we aspire to, now.

I grew up admiring people like the Kennedys. My mom sure did. High intelligence, elegance, understated class, and noblesse oblige - that if you were gifted or privileged, you were just freakin' OBLIGATED! You had responsibilities to society at large, to uplift and ennoble, make things around you better, and leave them better than you found them. The bar was set high and you were expected to reach upwards and work hard and behave. Certain conduct was expected of you. No wonder other cultures and countries laugh at us now. America seems to want to be "Reckless Dumb-Fucks with Too Much Money" - watch and admire 'em as they burp and fart and scratch their asses in public! Yearn to be them! Hey, sounds like a great title for a new reality show!!! Coming up next on Bravo...

This is a little cryptic... is he fired? is he suspended? or is he in hiatus from filming but still being paid? Is he on hiatus from filming till they write a new severance contract? Does indefinite mean till tomorrow or till next season?

There's been a lot of "pseudo" firing going on the last couple of days to appease the crowd. The fad for awhile was to bow down and bleed an apology but that's not entertaining anymore and no one believes it. I think the new fad is pseudo firing for an indefinite period or to a bigger job. Ask Francis.
